“Purplish-red. The bouquet is dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon, with notes of blackcurrant and a refreshing hint of eucalyptus. Finally, I detect a hint of graphite. The attack is slightly creamy and refreshing. The wine has body thanks to its tannins. These are well-integrated—admittedly still a bit angular—but in harmony with the wine’s racy structure. The edges should therefore round out on the finish, but I don’t think that will be a problem for this wine. It has the stature to age well. A fruity and lingering finish.” (Yves Beck 2020) - Delivery in a wooden case is available for orders of 6 bottles of this wine (depending on the country and selected shipping method)

About the estate:

A small Saint-Julien vineyard (approximately 5 ha) on Garonne gravel soils, owned since 1971 by Guy Delon—one of the most prominent figures in Médoc viticulture—the Moulin de la Rose consists of a multitude of plots scattered across several classified growths. Guide des Vins Gault & Millau

Rated 2** stars (Successful production)

About the estate:

“Château Ségur de Cabanac has been owned by the Delon family since 1985. Starting in 1993, Guy Delon was joined by his children. Far from the “great” châteaux, the estate comprises 7 small hectares in the eastern part of the commune of Saint-Estèphe, on a gravelly ridge overlooking the Gironde. Complemented by Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon accounts for 60% of the vineyard’s grape varieties; planting densities are high, at 9,000 vines per hectare.”

Wine Green

Vert de Vin

Wine rated (2020 guide) 88-89/100 (Jonathan Choukroun Chicheportiche)

About the wine:

The nose is powerful with a subtle, incisive character. It reveals notes of ripe blackcurrant, ripe raspberry, and, more subtly, gray/Timut pepper, combined with hints of blackcurrant, zan, crushed red berries, a touch of blueberry, vanilla, toasty notes, and a very subtle hint of rose (in the background). On the palate, it is fruity, with a finely structured acidity, offering a certain juiciness, body, a mineral backbone, subtle tension, roundness, a touch of richness, a delicate creaminess, and a hint of freshness. On the palate, this wine expresses notes of fleshy/crushed raspberry, crushed blackcurrant, and, more subtly, violet, combined with hints of plump/juicy red berries, juicy blackberries, as well as hints of refined minerality, toasty notes, tonka bean/chocolate, crushed almond, vanilla, and subtle hints of clove. Good length.
