discovery

"What a wonderful surprise! A full-bodied, concentrated, and silky wine offering excellent value for money."

"Premier Favorite the estate, producer of a very nice Saint-Julien that draws its tenderness from a dominant Merlot (60%). A subtle smoky oakiness blends with ripe black fruit and menthol in a refined nose. Comfortable from the outset, with a very silky texture, the palate quietly builds in power, revealing a smooth and caressing body, laced with peppery, well-integrated tannins. Add to this a long, fresh and fruity finish, and you have a Saint-Julien that is simply superb and has a uniquely refined texture. (Guide Hachette 2026)

About wine:

Premier Favorite the estate, producer of a very nice Saint-Julien that draws its tenderness from a dominant Merlot (60%). A subtle smoky woodiness marries ripe black fruit and menthol in a refined nose. Comfortable from the outset, with a very silky touch, the palate quietly builds in power, revealing a smooth, caressing texture, stitched together with peppery, well-integrated tannins. Add to this a long, fresh and fruity finish, and you have a Saint-Julien that is simply superb, with a uniquely refined texture. 2030-2037

About the estate:

As its name suggests, the terroir of this vineyard, which was separated from Château Lagrange in 1964 and is located in Saint-Julien-Beychevelle on the edge of the "grands vins" road that runs along the Gironde, is fairly poor. This is a disadvantage for all other crops, but an advantage for quality vines. Acquired in 1982, it is one of the Meffre family's Bordeaux estates.

About wine:

This wine, still very young, has spicy and toasted aromas, as well as notes of black fruit. It will become a great wine, rich and full-bodied. Its acidity will soften with time. Drink from 2027 onwards.

Wine rated (2024 guide) 93/100

About wine:

Notes of hazelnut, chocolate, and cedar blend with black cherries and blackcurrants. A hint of paprika and white pepper is also present. Ripe, full-bodied, and well-structured, it has polished tannins and a long, pleasantly smooth finish. It will need another year to allow the wood to integrate better.

Terre de Vins

Wine rated (2023 guide) 93-94/100

About wine:

This unclassified Saint-Julien is a very pleasant surprise, marking a 2022 vintage where Merlot makes up 60% of the blend, with the rest being Cabernet Sauvignon. The nose is floral, evoking redcurrant, and quite bright. Juicy on the palate, with well-defined tannins, it is concentrated, with a sweetness balanced by a hint of acidity. A truly delicious wine!
