Talbot Castle
Château Talbot stands on the edge of a sea of vineyards on the Saint-Julien-Beychevelle plateau. It is managed by Lorraine Cordier and Nancy Bignon-Cordier, the daughters of Jean Cordier. Château Talbot, a Grand Cru Classé of the Saint-Julien AOC, benefits from expertise passed down through many generations. Château Talbot’s vineyards are planted on a terroir of fine Günzian gravel, covering an area of 107 hectares, of which only 5 hectares are reserved for white wine production. For red wines, the blend is dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon (67% of the cultivated area), which provides the wine’s tannic structure and power, complemented by 27% Merlot, which adds roundness and smoothness. Petit Verdot (4%) is used sparingly, much like spices in fine dining. For white wines, the blend consists of 80% Sauvignon and 20% Sémillon. The wines of the Saint-Julien appellation, notably those from Château Talbot, are distinguished by their natural finesse and well-balanced character. Their style forms a magnificent bridge between the finesse of Margaux wines and the power of those from Pauillac.
