"With a beautiful golden color, this wine lives up to the estate’s reputation through the intensity and complexity of its bouquet—featuring candied notes (quince, yellow and white fruits)—as well as its development on the palate. At once full-bodied, dense, rich, and very fresh, it is also highly appealing thanks to the expressive character of its ripe fruit aromas, supported by well-balanced oak. ” (Le Guide Hachette des Vins 2022) A chic companion to luxury events on Avenue Montaigne, this cuvée is described as “one of Gems of the Sainte-Croix-du-Mont appellation.”

About the estate:

Based in Sainte-Croix for eight generations, the Armand family is a local institution known for its renowned sweet wines. The family produces two wines (using organic methods, though not certified): La Caussade and La Rame, its flagship wine, which was already renowned in the 19th century. Angélique and Grégoire Armand took over from their father, Yves, in 2009.

Rated estate (2019 guide) Selected (Please note that this guide is a ranking, and as such, all the estates listed here—even those without a star—represent, in our view, the pinnacle of French winemaking.)

About the estate:

A reliable choice within the Sainte-Croix-du-Mont appellation, Château La Rame benefits from a remarkable terroir on south-facing hillsides. It is currently managed by Yves Armand’s children, Grégoire and Angélique. The wines demonstrate exceptional consistency, both in the precision of their aromas and in their aging profiles. The estate’s prestige cuvée, La Réserve du Château, created in 1983, is consistently top-notch and ages beautifully. More affordable, Château La Caussade is a pleasantly fruity sweet wine that gains in complexity, particularly in the excellent 2015 vintage. The reds, while simpler, can also be quite delicious.
