"Definitely one of the best deals in Sauternes! ~ La RVF"
“Tradition has its merits, and it is once again rewarded here with this classic Sauternes, whose Favorite those produced in the 2011 and 2013 vintages. The nose exudes luscious notes of candied fruit and honey that find an intense continuation on a broad, rich, warm, and powerful palate, with a distinct sweet character and a long, savory finish. It certainly has character and potential.” (Hachette Guide – 2024 Edition)

Bettane & Desseauve
Rated estate (2015 guide): 2*Stars (A solid, recommendable wine, though slightly more consistent and uniform than the previous vintage)
About the estate:
The two brothers, Hervé and Patrick Lamothe—who also produce red wines—run this very low-key but highly recommended family-owned estate. The vineyard spans the appellation’s four communes, comprising a mosaic of 80 different plots, some of which contain vines over 100 years old.

RVF - La Revue du Vin de France / Guide des Meilleurs Vins de France
Wine rated (2022 guide) 96/100
About the wine:
A sumptuous nose of candied orange. This is a magnificent liqueur. It is at once full-bodied and elegant, deep and well-balanced, with a lovely hint of flint.
James Suckling
Wine rated (2021 guide) 92/100
About the wine:
Honey, marmalade, toasted baking spices, and candied lemon. It is full-bodied and well-balanced. The acidity and spices add freshness and balance. A flavorful, medium-length finish. Try it after 2023.
Yves Beck
Wine rated (2020 guide) 93/100
About the wine:
A superb bouquet, complex and inviting. Notes of mandarin zest and honey, followed by hints of nougat, cocoa, and saffron. On the palate, the wine is smooth and creamy. Its sweetness is captivating but by no means overpowering. A fruity, balanced wine with a refined finish thanks to a refreshing acidity. 2024–2048
Vert de Vin
Wine rated (2020 guide) 93/100 (Jonathan Choukroun Chicheportiche)
About the wine:
The nose is fruity and elegant, offering a delicious, indulgent character, a touch of richness, a subtle intensity, and a lingering quality. It reveals notes of candied quince, vine peaches in syrup, and, more subtly, pear, combined with hints of apricots in syrup, a refined minerality, and touches of pineapple, nutmeg, lemon blossom, a subtle hint of spice, mango, and very subtle toasty notes. On the palate, it is fruity, mineral, and well-balanced, offering a lively acidity, lovely freshness, a touch of creaminess, and a subtle syrupy quality. On the palate, this wine expresses notes of candied apple, mashed pear, and, more subtly, candied quince, combined with hints of pineapple in syrup, dried apricot, a subtle hint of mango, and subtle notes of vanilla, almond, elegant minerality, and toasty notes. Good length.

On the palate, a very classic Sauternes—stately, perhaps even a bit dull at first. Then comes the finish: a symphony of salinity, honeyed richness, and fruit that lingers endlessly. All at a bargain price—a must-try!
