Wine rated 16.5/20 (Reference wine)

Rated estate (2017 guide) 3 stars (High-quality production, serving as a benchmark in its sector)

About wine:

Very intense, with a focus on structure. Good aromatic development. Long, warm, and minty finish.

About the estate:

This 8.5-hectare estate located in Preignac, in the northern part of the Sauternes region, produces some of the most consistent and best unclassified Sauternes wines. The owners are the very friendly Gonet-Medeville family, who also own the excellent champagnes of the same name, the legendary Château Gilette, and Château Respide-Medeville in the Graves appellation.

Guide des Vins Gault & Millau

3-star estate (very high-quality production)

About the estate:

The Médeville family is a benchmark in Sauternes. Owners of Château Gilette, they have also managed Les Justices for over two centuries. Coming from a terroir that is less expressive than Gilette, with gravel, sand, and some clay, the wines of Château Les Justices nevertheless benefit from the Médeville family's experience and are always consistent and elegant.

Wine rated (2016 guide) 16/20 (Very good wine)

Rated estate (2017 guide) 1*Star (Up-and-coming stars or quality winemakers producing good wines; you won't be disappointed when tasting the wines from these estates)

About the estate:

Julie Médeville and her husband Xavier Gonet, who also own the legendary Château Gilette, run this lovely vineyard, well known to bargain hunters in Sauternes. The estate produces a deliciously fragrant Sauternes without excessive sweetness. The wine develops fairly quickly in the bottle and, in great vintages, rivals the appellation's fine classified growths. A sure bet, whose distinctive feature is that it is not aged in barrels.
