“Aromas of white flowers, light honey, fresh bread, and green apple lead into the 2020 Chablis 1er Cru Forêts, a medium- to full-bodied wine that is silky and briny, lively and precise, with an elegant and subtly bold profile this year.” (Wine Advocate 2022).

Wine rated 91/100

Rated 3 stars (A high-quality product that serves as a benchmark in its sector)

About the wine:

A lovely, delicate aroma combining rich ripe fruit with floral notes, followed by a round, pleasant, and flavorful palate.

About the estate:

A long-established family in Chablis, the Michels cultivate the finest vineyards, both Premier Cru and Grand Cru. The estate is also one of the very few to offer the Grenouilles grand cru, of which La Chablisienne remains the primary producer. Since 1969, winemaking has been carried out in stainless steel tanks, so the wines here often start out quietly in the bottle, but their minerality comes through effortlessly after a few years of aging.

Wine rated (2024 guide) 91/100

About the wine:

Forêts 2020 stands out for its straw-like vegetal note. While its fruitiness seems delicate, it lacks a bit of vibrancy and energy.
