Domaine Richard Angonin

A young consulting oenologist, Richard Angonin has always wanted to become a winemaker. He made his dream come true in 2015 when he bought a small parcel of land.

Five years later, the estate, located in Volnay, covers 1.4 hectares and produces between 6,000 and 7,000 bottles, including a natural sparkling wine in VDF Aligoté, a red Burgundy from plots in Pommard and Pernand-Vergelesses, and a white Côtes de Nuits village.

Far from the more popular appellations, Richard pampers his vines with organic conversion and makes wines of admirable definition, in a digestible, gourmet style.

Ambitious, every year he tries to buy a new small parcel of land, giving new life to forgotten, damaged vines that are more accessible and have remarkable potential.

Richard Angonin is one of those off-the-beaten-track winemakers who are driving Burgundy's revival.

A breath of fresh air for the region at an affordable price.
