Domaine Richard Angonin

A young winemaking consultant, Richard Angonin had always wanted to become a winemaker. He made his dream a reality in 2015 by purchasing a small plot of land.

Five years later, the estate in Volnay spans 1.4 hectares and produces between 6,000 and 7,000 bottles, including a naturally sparkling VDF Aligoté, a red Burgundy from plots in Pommard and Pernand-Vergelesses, and a white Côtes de Nuits Villages. 

Far from the sought-after appellations, Richard tends to his vines, which are in the process of converting to organic farming, and produces wines of admirable clarity, in an approachable and indulgent style. 

Ambitious, he tries each year to purchase a new small plot, thereby breathing new life into forgotten, damaged vines that are more accessible and possess remarkable potential.  

Richard Angonin is one of those winemakers off the beaten path who are driving the revival of Burgundy.
