Domaine Richard Angonin

A young wine consultant, Richard Angonin always wanted to become a winemaker. He realized his dream in 2015 by purchasing a small plot of land.

Five years later, the estate in Volnay covers 1.4 hectares and produces between 6,000 and 7,000 bottles, including a natural sparkling wine in VDF Aligoté, a red Burgundy from plots in Pommard and Pernand-Vergelesses, and his white Côtes de Nuits villages. 

Far from the sought-after appellations, Richard pampers his vines, which are in the process of converting to organic farming, and produces wines of admirable definition, in a digestible and delicious style. 

Ambitious, he tries to buy a new small plot every year, thus bringing forgotten, damaged vines back to life, making them more accessible and revealing their remarkable potential.  

Richard Angonin is one of those off-the-beaten-track winemakers who are reviving Burgundy.
