"The latest addition to the Jadot portfolio: a delicious Fixin Premier Cru with a bright future ahead!"

"Jadot acquired 2.68 hectares of this vineyard, making the Fixin 1er Cru Clos du Chapitre 2023 the first vintage of what will become a staple of the estate. Offering aromas of cherries, raspberries, and petals, it is medium-bodied to full-bodied, ample and smooth, with refined tannins and a mineral, chalky finish. (Robert Parker Wine Advocate 2025)

Rated estate (2025 guide) 4 stars (Producers of very high quality, those who are the pride of French vineyards)

About the estate:

The Gagey family became involved in this veritable piece of Burgundian historical heritage upon the death of Louis-Auguste Jadot. With no heir, the estate was entrusted in 1962 to André Gagey, who remained its manager until 1991, when he handed over the reins to his son Pierre-Henry, who now oversees the 225 hectares of vineyards. Since 2011, Frédéric Barnier has been in charge of winemaking, perfectly succeeding Jacques Lardière and further improving the consistency and homogeneity of all the wines. The whites are pneumatically pressed and fermented directly in barrels, where they are aged on lees with periodic stirring for 12 to 20 months. The red wines are vinified destemmed, uncrushed, without cold pre-fermentation, and undergo a vatting period of 25 to 27 days before beginning their 12 to 22 months of aging in barrels, a third of which are new.

Rated estate (2022 guide) 1*Star (Up-and-coming stars or quality winemakers producing good-quality wines; you won't be disappointed when tasting the wines from these estates)

About the estate:

This prestigious wine merchant is run with great efficiency by Pierre-Henry Gagey, who is very involved in Burgundy. The company has an extensive range and a beautiful collection of terroirs, including the main Burgundy appellations. Frédéric Barnier, who has been in charge of winemaking since 2012, is gradually making his mark by refining the wines. Consistency is one of this house's strengths. While the whites show beautiful balance, the reds are strict and severe, with woodiness dominating the fruit and even acetate notes, which this year detract from the enjoyment of certain vintages. Let's hope this is temporary, as the star is under threat.

Wine rated (2025 guide) 90-92/100

About wine:

The Fixin Clos du Chapitre 1er Cru 2023 is a new cuvée, resulting from the acquisition of 2.78 hectares of 55-year-old vines belonging to the Dufouleur family (who have retained some of them, meaning that it is no longer a monopoly). One hectare is currently being grafted by Jadot with Chardonnay. It has a well-defined bouquet of fragrant red fruits, with a hint of blood orange that reveals itself when aerated. The palate is fresh and vibrant, with lively red fruits, a touch of orange peel and a well-composed finish that exudes joie de vivre. The 2023 is a welcome addition to Jadot's range of reds. 2026-2040
