Mâcon-Pierreclos
The Mâcon-Pierreclos appellation d'origine contrôlée (AOC) is a communal appellation located in the Saône-et-Loire department and distinguished within the regional appellation. Recognized in 1937, the Mâcon-Pierreclos AOC covers only the commune of Pierreclos, located east of Mâcon.

The Mâcon-Pierreclos vineyards benefit from brown limestone or calcareous soils, which are shallow or deep, clayey or sandy, often mixed with silica pebbles. The Mâcon-Pierreclos vineyards are planted at an altitude of between 100 and 400 meters. The Mâcon region enjoys a semi-continental climate with Mediterranean influences.

The grape varieties used for Mâcon-Pierreclos wine are Chardonnay for white wines, Gamay noir à jus blanc (the region is close to Beaujolais) and Pinot Noir for red wines. Domaine Guffens-Heynen offers a more than pleasant introduction to the Mâcon-Pierreclos appellation.
