Mâcon-Pierreclos
The Mâcon-Pierreclos Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée (AOC) is a municipal appellation located in the Saône-et-Loire department and recognized within the regional appellation. Established in 1937, the Mâcon-Pierreclos AOC covers the single municipality of Pierreclos, situated east of Mâcon.

The vineyards of Mâcon-Pierreclos benefit from brown limestone or calcareous soils, which are either shallow or deep, clayey or sandy, and often mixed with silica pebbles. The Mâcon-Pierreclos vineyards are planted at altitudes ranging from 100 to 400 meters. The Mâcon region enjoys a semi-continental climate with Mediterranean influences.

The grape varieties used for Mâcon-Pierreclos wines are Chardonnay for white wines and Gamay noir à jus blanc (the region is close to Beaujolais) and Pinot Noir for red wines. Domaine Guffens-Heynen offers a delightful introduction to the Mâcon-Pierreclos appellation.
