Guffens-Heynen Estate
Domaine Guffens-Heynen was born out of the determination and shared passion for vineyards and wine, as well as the particularly creative artistic sensibility of Maine and Jean-Marie Guffens-Heynen, who are of Flemish origin. From that point on, through hard work over the course of a few years, Domaine Guffens-Heynen would become one of the most renowned estates in the world for the quality of its wines.

After Jean-Marie studied viticulture and Maine gained experience working with the village winemakers, they became managers of a small estate in the Mâconnais region and learned the art of vineyard management. In 1979, they acquired several vineyard plots on the hills above Pierreclos. Enthusiastic but inexperienced, they made up for their lack of experience with an almost instinctive approach to the vineyard and winemaking. An outstanding winemaker and aging specialist, Jean-Marie Guffens-Heynen produces rare vintages of an elegance universally praised and a consistency rarely found.

This talented duo is also dedicated to the future of Maison Verget, a small wine merchant in the heart of the Mâconnais region, which enjoys equal success as its wines exhibit elegance and finesse and, more than any others, capture the true essence of the terroir.
