"The Suremain estate is one of the most surprising in recent years, according to Bettane & Desseauve 2025, and the 2022 vintage is once again among the top three in the Mercurey appellation."

Powerful and deeply colored, it offers aromas of blackberry and mulberry with notes of earth, smoke, and leather. The texture is firm and concentrated, with plenty of acidity and a finish that lingers impressively on the palate. The grapes come from a 1.3-hectare plot facing south, north of the village, just upstream from Les Naugues. The grapes are destemmed and ferment gently on indigenous yeasts before being aged in barrels for a year. 2025-2035" (Decanter 2024)

Wine making

Definitely Burgundian in terms of the linearity of its cultivation methods, harvesting, maceration, aging, and bottling; each cuvée is produced in the same way, allowing only the terroir to assert itself in the glass.

Livestock farming

For 15-18 months in barrels (used 1 to 6 times)

Eye

Deep ruby color with a beautiful shine

Nose

Highly aromatic, opening with a magnificent palette of blackberries, blueberries, and raspberries, complemented by notes of iris and peony, with a subtle minerality undoubtedly due to the terroir.

Mouth

Delicate, elegant, and airy, this is the finest of the estate's premier crus. The flavors echo those found on the nose and reveal a magnificent aromatic complexity, with a long, supple finish.

About wine:

Bettane and Desseauve Guide 2025 / 2026-2032

About the estate:

The Suremain estate is probably one of the most surprising in recent years. Blessed with some of the best premier cru vineyards in Mercurey, Loïc de Suremain, assisted by his parents Yves and Marie-Hélène, cultivates the estate's 18 hectares. Particular attention to respecting the terroirs results in different Mercureys with distinct characteristics and nuances. Loïc, who is passionate about viticulture, strives to develop wines with more fruit and consistency, based on a true understanding of his soils. The winery has been completely renovated and expanded, and the wines are increasingly precise and flawless in our blind tastings. The progress is remarkable and places the 2021 vintage among the top three in the appellation.
