"The expression of this Pommard leaves its mark on the mind and the palate, a dense, racy Pinot Noir highlighting the character of the Burgundian terroir!"

"A savory Pommard with aromas of sour cherries, strawberries, bark, cloves and bitter chocolate. Both rich and tart, with medium to full body, fleshy tannins and a spicy, toasty finish. Drink it or keep it." (James Suckling 2024)

Bettane & Desseauve

Bettane & Desseauve

Domaine rated (guide 2021) 2*Stars (A serious and recommendable production, but a little more regular and homogeneous than the previous one)

About the domain :

This small estate comprises 8 hectares of vines, spread between Nuits-Saint-Georges and Beaune. Founded in 2009 by Olivier Decelle and Pierre-Jean Villa, it has been managed from the outset by Jean Lupatelli, a talented man who oversees vineyard management and vinification with great insight. The estate rounds out its range with a few additional purchases on the equivalent of two hectares, in historic appellations followed since the creation of the brand, and relying on vines harvested by in-house teams. The 2018 reds are tender, charming, well-fruited and floral, clearly respecting their origins.

About the domain :

Founded in 2009 by two non-Burgundy associates - Pierre-Jean Villa (Northern Rhône Valley) and Olivier Decelle (Mas Amiel in Roussillon, Jean Faure, Haut-Ballet, Haut-Maurac in Bordeaux) backed up by their oenologist Jean Lupatelli - this Nuitonne house (négoce and domaine) has now carved out a solid place for itself in Burgundy.

Domaine rated (guide 2022) 1*Star (Stars in the making or quality winemakers with good production levels, you won't be disappointed when you taste the wines from these estates)

About the domain :

Founded in 2009 by two great wine gentlemen, Olivier Decelle (Mas Amiel in Roussillon and Jean Faure in Saint-Émilion), and Pierre-Jean Villa, a winemaker in the northern Rhône Valley, this estate stopped buying grapes in 2017. Previously named Decelle-Villa, it became Decelle et Fils in 2020. Based in Nuits-Saint-Georges, it relies on estate-owned vines on the côtes de Beaune and Nuits, grown organically. Fine technician Jean Lupatelli has crafted excellent wines here, with 20-50% whole harvest in the reds, but he has just left the domaine in spring 2021.
