Founded in 1986, the Françoise and Denis Clair Estate The vineyard now covers 5 hectares, planted exclusively with Pinot Noir in the commune of Santenay. A winemaker for several generations, Denis Clair inherited these plots from his family.

Over the years, the Françoise and Denis Clair Estate has expanded through the purchase and lease of several Chardonnay vineyards, primarily in the village of Saint-Aubin, where Françoise Clair is from and where the winery is located.

Today, the vineyard covers 15 hectares (65% red – 35% white). Since 2000, Jean-Baptiste, the son, has been working on the estate, and together they have established a small wine-trading business to further expand the range of wines produced.

Nearly the entire harvest is vinified and bottled, amounting to approximately 75,000 bottles per year. Year after year, Domaine Françoise et Denis Clair strives to improve the quality of its wines; it is regularly featured in various specialized guides and magazines (Bettane et Desseauve, Revue des Vins de France, Guide Hachette des vins, Bourgogne Aujourd'hui, etc.).
