Barolet Pernot - Saint-Romain blanc 2019
2*Coup de Coeur
Hachette
"Awarded a star last year, this cuvée, made from a blend of plots covering 3.50 hectares, has improved even further in its 2019 version and has been awarded a Favorite. The nose is very elegant, balancing the woodiness of the aging process (40% new barrels) with citrus aromas. The palate is full-bodied, rich, and generous, with a long, tangy finish offering a welcome freshness . A remarkable harmony." (Le Guide Hachette des Vins 2022)

Bettane & Desseauve
Winery rated 1*Star (A serious, recommendable production, consistent with what one would expect from its appellation(s))
About the estate:
One of our latest discoveries is a domaine that dates back to the end of the 16th century! But a whole new generation has decided to make better use of this beautiful vineyard heritage, and from its first two vintages (2014 and 2015), the difference is clear with more precise wines, whose oakiness could certainly be improved but is better integrated. One to watch and encourage, with a soft spot for the old vines of Saint-Romain, which offer unbeatable value for money. The reds, healthily vinified from whole grapes, still have room for improvement in terms of fruit quality, particularly an ideally located Beaune-Teurons.

About the estate:
André Barolet moved to the estate in 1947 and married Huguette Pernot 10 years later. In 1985, Didier joined the business, and together they developed bottle sales to private customers, while also creating a tasting cellar. In 2015, Didier's son Romain joined them on an estate that now covers 14 hectares spread across six appellations.
