Domaine de la Pousse d'Or - Santenay Clos Tavannes 1er Cru 2011
Cité
Hachette
"With an intense purple color and violet highlights, the 2011 releases aromas of black cherry enhanced by hints of spice from fifteen months of barrel aging. Beautiful blackcurrant and raspberry fruitiness, mellow tannins, and a touch of licorice make it charming, but patience is required as this wine should be left in the cellar for at least two years. (Le Guide Hachette des Vins 2014). Already very pleasant!

Rated estate (2017 guide) 4 stars (Producers of very high quality, those who are the pride of French vineyards)
About the estate:
From La Bousse d'Or to Patrick Landanger, via the Dukes of Burgundy and Jacques-Marie Duvault-Blochet, this estate has been home to the great men of Burgundy for over eight centuries. One of them, Gérard Potel, brought fame to the wines of Volnay from 1964 to 1997, until his sudden death. Patrick Landanger, who acquired the estate in 1997, took over the reins of his cellars in 1999 in order to carry out a series of colossal works, including a redesign of the winery, which now operates by gravity over six floors. Since then, the estate's wines have continued to evolve towards the pinnacle of Volnay femininity and an incomparably silky mouthfeel. The recent addition of Chambolle-Musigny wines from the former Moine-Hudelot estate only confirms this trend.

About wine:
Owned by Patrick Landanger since 1997, this renowned Volnay estate has vineyards in illustrious appellations such as Corton and Puligny-Montrachet. In Santenay, he cultivates more than 2 hectares in the most renowned premier cru vineyards, such as Clos Tavannes. With an intense purple color and violet highlights, the 2011 vintage releases aromas of black cherry enhanced by hints of spice from fifteen months of barrel aging. Beautiful blackcurrant and raspberry fruit, mellow tannins and a hint of licorice make this a charming wine, but patience is required as it should be left to age in the cellar for at least two years. Perfect with hare stew.

Rated estate (2017 guide) 2 stars (These very large estates, often blessed with fabulous terroirs, are must-haves which, thanks to their consistency and the excellence of their production, deserve a place in the cellars of discerning wine lovers).
About the estate:
Magnificent property in Volnay. La Pousse d'Or owes its rebirth to Patrick Landanger, who devoted significant financial and human resources to restoring the reputation of this iconic estate. He is responsible for considerably improving the winemaking facilities and acquiring new plots, particularly in the Côte de Nuits. The wines are all remarkable.
