“This dry Champagne has a beautifully textured palate, with great minerality and no signs of aging despite seven years in the bottle. Its taut, concentrated character will continue to refine over the next year.” (Wine Enthusiast) A cuvée that combines the delicacy and minerality of the Côte des Blancs with the richness and generosity of the Montagne de Reims.

Bettane & Desseauve
Wine rated 17.5/20 (Top-rated wine)
Rated estate (2022 guide): 4 stars (Producers of the very highest quality, the pride of French viticulture)
About the estate:
Founded in 1760 and located in the heart of Reims with its garden, the Clos Lanson, this historic House celebrated its 260th anniversary this year with one major goal: to reclaim its former glory. With 550 hectares of its own vineyards and 16 hectares dedicated to organic and biodynamic viticulture, the house has access to a total of over 100 different crus, 50% of which are grands crus and premiers crus. Over the past several years, significant investments have been made to optimize the winemaking process: a plot-specific fermentation facility, a cask cellar dedicated to reserve wines, and a new pressing center. The cuvées reflect this investment in the aging methods for reserve wines and their extended depth, as well as the decision to no longer systematically perform malolactic fermentation. Aging periods have been extended, dosages are meticulously calibrated, and the packaging has been superbly redesigned, including a back label packed with technical details that are highly useful to today’s consumer. The wines now possess that extra touch of soul that connects the consumer to the maturity of the style and to splendid mosaics.

About the wine:
The Blanc de Blancs offers enticing aromas of citrus zest, flowers, white peach, and brioche. Medium-bodied to full-bodied, smooth and rich, with lively acidity and a fine mousse, it finishes with a tantalizing, delicately chalky aftertaste.

Rated estate (2022 guide) Selected (Please note that this guide is a ranking, and as such, all the estates listed here—even those without a star—represent, in our view, the pinnacle of French winemaking.)
About the estate:
Founded in 1760, the brand has been the flagship of the publicly traded Lanson-BCC group since its acquisition in 2006. Since 2018, the house—which exports more than 80% of its production—has been chaired by François Van Aal. Cellar master Hervé Dantan carries on the Lanson style with Pinot-dominant champagnes, in which malolactic fermentation is no longer systematically halted, characterized by a taut freshness and built for aging.

About the wine:
A creamy champagne with lovely fruit flavors, featuring notes of sliced apple, pineapple, and praline. It is full-bodied and round with fine bubbles. Very creamy.
