Notes: RVF 15.5/20, Guide Hachette 2** (Remarkable Wine)
“This cuvée offers all the distinction expected of a pure Chardonnay. It was disgorged ‘en petite mousse’: fine bubbles rise through its pale color. The elegant nose combines delicacy and power, blending floral and toasty aromas. The palate, in perfect harmony, combines silky fullness and tension. A distinguished champagne, perfect as an aperitif.” (Le Guide Hachette des Vins 2014)

"It’s the perfect wine for an aperitif, and it also pairs well with fish—or even an entire meal, provided the dishes aren’t too spicy or, above all, too sweet."

Hachette Wine Guide

Guide Hachette des vins

Wine rated (2014 guide) 2** stars (Outstanding wine)

About the wine:

This wine merchant is considered the newest of the major houses. A descendant of winemakers, Bruno Paillard founded it in 1981 with the goal of exporting premium cuvées. Two decades later, 75% of the champagnes produced in the state-of-the-art winery are exported. All cuvées contain at least 20% barrel-aged wine, and their dosage is measured. This one offers all the distinction expected of a pure Chardonnay. It was drawn “en petite mousse”: fine bubbles rise in its clear color. The elegant nose combines delicacy and power, blending floral and toasty aromas. The palate, in perfect harmony, combines silky fullness with tension. A distinguished champagne, perfect as an aperitif.

Rated estate (2024 guide) 1*Star (Up-and-coming stars or quality winemakers producing wines of a high standard—you won’t be disappointed when tasting the wines from these estates)

About the estate:

“Since its founding in 1981, its founder and longtime manager, Bruno Paillard, has continued to juggle numerous responsibilities, including serving as CEO of the Lanson-BBC Group. He is now supported by his daughter Alice, who passionately oversees relations with the vineyards—some of which are still entirely organically farmed, adhering closely to organic principles without seeking certification. For the past two years, we have been delighted to rediscover this house and the spirit of its aromatic, expressive cuvées, supported on the palate by fine acidity and delicate bubbles. The disgorgement dates are listed on the back labels. We award it its first star.”
