"This Chilean icon was ranked among the top 100 wines in the world tasted by James Suckling in 2022!"
"Fresh and deep nose, full of blueberries, minty blackcurrants, mussels, cigars, dark spices, and toasted sesame oak. It will need a year or two to fully integrate. A medium-bodied to full-bodied Almaviva with supple, silky tannins and a richness of black and blue fruit that gives it great charm now. Voluptuous and flattering on the palate, it stands out for its tension and taut texture. Very long. (James Suckling 2022) - Ranked 97th out of 100 of the world's best wines tasted in 2022 by James Suckling - Delivery in wooden crates available for orders of 6 bottles of this wine (depending on country and shipping method selected)

Eye
An attractive, vibrant dark ruby color
Nose
Pure and layered, with a generous and elegant bouquet of blackberry, blackcurrant, and wild strawberry, combined with mineral nuances and delicate notes of violet, ink, vanilla, and dark chocolate.
Mouth
The wine is remarkably balanced, full of life, density, structure, roundness, and flavors. Ripe, well-integrated tannins give it a voluptuous texture, perfectly balanced by high acidity. The finish leaves an impression of fullness, length, and elegance.

About wine:
2020 was an exceptionally dry year, with 75% less rainfall than usual between May and September, allowing for an earlier harvest and the production of an Almaviva 2020 with 68% Cabernet Sauvignon, 24% Carmenère (from Peumo), 6% Cabernet Franc, and 2% Petit Verdot, and therefore no Merlot this time. The process was as meticulous as possible, without the use of sprays, with manual and optical sorting of the grapes, pressing in small vertical presses, and aging for 20 months in French oak barrels, 73% of which are new and the rest second-hand. The wine has reached a good maturity with 14.9% alcohol. It still shows some of the effects of aging, with abundant notes of sweet spices, a creamy touch, and a hint of smoke. I tasted it alongside the 2019, and the wines have a very similar aromatic palette with a clear note of cooked peppers. What was surprising in 2020 was that they harvested the Carménère almost five weeks earlier than usual, and the result is not a green wine at all. As in all dry years, the wines are a little more tannic, somewhat in the style of 2017—but 2020 has more tension than 2017, and 2017 was more powerful and had greater tannic structure. The 2019 had more volume than the 2018, and the 2020 is closer to the 2019 than the 2018.
