Notes: RVF 17.5/20, Bettane & Desseauve 17/20
“A truly, truly great 2009 Bianco-Gentile with a noble reduction and impressive body and length on the palate.” (Les Meilleurs Vins de France 2011 - RVF). “Full-bodied, generous, with great depth of flavor and richness. ” (Le Grand Guide des Vins de France 2011 - Bettane & Desseauve). This excellent white wine, made from the rare grape variety from which it takes its name, is simply magnificent and boasts an exceptionally long finish!

Rated estate (2012 guide): 2*Stars (These exceptional estates, often boasting fabulous terroirs, are must-haves that, thanks to the consistency and excellence of their wines, deserve a place in the cellars of discerning wine lovers)
About the estate:
“A meticulous winemaker and the leader of Patrimonio, Antoine Arena is convinced that the identity of Corsican wines depends on sound viticulture—particularly soil management—as well as winemaking that is as natural as possible. This noble cause also takes into account—and this is essential—the potential of native grape varieties on selected terroirs, which allows for the production of a whole range of distinctive wines, from the famous Carco to Grotte di Sol, and the most recent, Morta Maïo. While the estate may have experienced, in certain vintages, a tendency toward overripeness (with “dry” whites that had high residual sugar levels) and excessive power in the reds, the most recent vintages have achieved a more balanced and refined extraction, with greater precision and accuracy. Today, under the leadership of Antoine’s sons, Jean-Baptiste and Antoine-Marie, the estate is experiencing a new wave of momentum, driven in particular by a desire to develop oak-aged wines. An estate that has never stood still!”

From what I remember, I found it too "bold"—that guy sure knows his stuff! But then again, it's a matter of taste. Because at Arena, they don't make bad wines. In my opinion, he's the best winemaker in Corsica.
