Rating: RVF 15.5/20
“Morta Maïo comes from a clay-based terroir. It is a wine that is becoming increasingly robust, and the 2009 vintage is a perfect example of this. ” (Le Guide des Meilleurs Vins de France 2012 - RVF). An expressive and refined wine with lovely aromas of fresh red fruit, full-bodied, with supple and round tannins... A great bottle from a splendid vintage!

Rated estate (2012 guide) 2*Stars (These exceptional estates, often boasting fabulous terroirs, are must-haves that, thanks to their consistency and the excellence of their wines, deserve a place in the cellars of discerning wine lovers)
About the estate:
“A meticulous winemaker and the driving force behind Patrimonio, Antoine Arena is convinced that the identity of Corsican wines depends on sound viticultural practices—particularly soil management—as well as winemaking that is as natural as possible. This noble cause also takes into account—and this is essential—the potential of native grape varieties on selected terroirs, enabling the production of a range of distinctive wines, from the famous Carco to Grotte di Sol, and the most recent, Morta Maïo. While the estate has at times in certain vintages experienced excesses in overripeness (with “dry” whites having high residual sugar levels) and in the intensity of the reds, the most recent vintages have achieved a more balanced and refined extraction, with greater precision and accuracy. Today, under the leadership of Antoine’s sons, Jean-Baptiste and Antoine-Marie, the estate is experiencing a new wave of momentum, particularly with a focus on developing barrel-aged wines. An estate that has never stood still!”
