RVF - La Revue du Vin de France / Guide des Meilleurs Vins de France
Rated estate (2012 guide) 2*Stars (These exceptional estates, often blessed with fabulous terroirs, are must-haves that, thanks to the consistency and excellence of their wines, deserve a place in the cellars of discerning wine lovers)
About the estate:
“A meticulous winemaker and the driving force behind Patrimonio, Antoine Arena is convinced that the identity of Corsican wines depends on sound viticulture—particularly soil management—as well as winemaking that is as natural as possible. This noble cause also takes into account—and this is essential—the potential of indigenous grape varieties on selected terroirs, allowing for the creation of a range of distinctive cuvées, from the famous Carco to Grotte di Sol, and the most recent, Morta Maïo. While the estate may have experienced in certain vintages a tendency toward overripeness (with “dry” whites having high residual sugar levels) and excessive power in the reds, the most recent vintages have achieved a more balanced and refined extraction, with greater precision and accuracy. Today, under the leadership of Antoine’s sons, Jean-Baptiste and Antoine-Marie, the estate is experiencing a new wave of momentum, particularly with a focus on developing barrel-aged wines. An estate that has never stood still!”

Freshness and subtle acidity make this wine incredibly easy to drink, with beautiful fruit: a perfect balance. The bottle is finished in less time than it takes to uncork it... It’s not at all a “southern” wine, despite its latitude. I loved this wine much more than its sibling, the 2009 Carco. The vintage? In any case, there’s great diversity within this appellation; the wines can be very different.

A very well-balanced wine. Aromas of red fruit and cocoa; smooth and fresh on the palate. Good length.
