Patrimonio
The Patrimonio AOC is a Corsican appellation that covers the Nebbio region (meaning “fog”). At the foot of Cap Corse, the Patrimonio appellation opens onto the Gulf of Saint-Florent, with its plains, hills, and valleys. Its dense network of rivers and ridges encloses it to the east toward Bastia and to the south toward the Agriate Desert
The Patrimonio AOC benefits from a particularly diverse terroir formed during the Mesozoic, Cenozoic, and Quaternary periods. The soils are clay-limestone, schist, or granite. The climate is Mediterranean: seasonal winds (such as the Maestrale and the Libeccio) influence the vegetation, and the lower areas of the basins are susceptible to frost. Furthermore, fog is very common and makes the Patrimonio vineyards particularly susceptible to downy mildew.
The Patrimonio AOC produces red and rosé wines made primarily from the Nielluccio grape variety, and white wines made from Vermentino. The Yves Leccia, Clos Teddi, and Giudicelli estates offer wines that are particularly representative of the quality and character of the Patrimonio terroir.
