Clos Signadore - Patrimonio A Mandria rouge 2021
92-93/100
RVF
“An elegant, intense, and full-bodied wine”
“A deep, brilliant ruby red. The nose evokes stewed fruit, with a ripe profile and a hint of licorice. The palate is full-bodied with refined tannins, showing good balance; one appreciates its density and freshness. Its extended aging has given it a refined character, and it will continue to develop favorably for five years or more.” (Le Guide RVF 2024)

Bettane & Desseauve
Rated 2 stars (A solid, recommendable production, though slightly more conventional and uniform than the previous one)
About the estate:
A courageous and determined artisan winemaker, Christophe Ferrandis produces wines full of character in his cramped, cramped cellar—wines that are typical of their terroir and crafted with a well-understood commitment to organic principles. They need two to three years of bottle aging. Let’s hope he soon has a facility that does justice to his efforts.

Rated estate (2021 guide) 1*Star (Up-and-coming stars or quality winemakers producing wines of a high standard—you won’t be disappointed when tasting the wines from these estates)
About the wine:
A deep, brilliant ruby red. The nose evokes stewed fruit, with a ripe profile and a hint of licorice. The palate is full-bodied with refined tannins, showing good balance; its density and freshness are particularly appealing. Its extended aging has given it a smooth, refined character, and it will continue to improve over the next five years or more.
About the estate:
Originally from Marseille and trained at Château de Pibarnon (Bandol), among other places, Christophe Ferrandis settled in 2002 near Saint-Florent in the village of Poggio d’Oletta. He currently vinifies in cramped quarters in a former sheepfold but plans to build a new winery. His vineyard faces the Leccia estate in Morta Piana. Yields are low, the vineyard is organically farmed, and the grapes are harvested in small crates. The concentrated, extract-driven style of his early years is evolving toward greater finesse. Suitable for excellent aging, the reds are more harmonious, particularly the Clos Signadore and A Mandria cuvées, produced in all three varieties. Inizia is a new merchant-produced cuvée.
