Bogeda Mas Doix
Bodega Mas Doix is owned by Ramón Llagostera and Josep Doix, who in 1998 took over their family’s Mas Doix estate and, with it, the legacy of five generations of passionate winemakers, dating back to 1850 and the pre-phylloxera era. Their philosophy and core value is to convey the intrinsic characteristics of the Priorat terroir. Oscar Llombart, an oenologist, supports Ramón in his day-to-day work. In fact, the wine from Bodega Mas Doix is truly the product of its environment, soil, slope, orientation, microclimate, and the native grape varieties specific to the region—all combined with their expertise.
The geographical location of Bodega Mas Doix, situated in the northeastern part of the Priorat, protects the vineyard thanks to two natural barriers: the Montsant (to the northwest) and the Serra del Mollo (to the southeast). Because it is close to these two barriers, Poboleda benefits from the cool breezes that circulate through the valley. These temperatures, which are lower than the regional average, allow for a later harvest and also promote better ripening of the grapes. The soils consist mainly of “licorelle” slate. All of Bodega Mas Doix’s plots are located at an elevation of 350 to 400 meters above sea level.
At Bogeda Mas Doix, the wines of Ramón Llagostera and Oscar Llombart are great wines built for aging, with strong character and limited production. Robert Parker said of the 2006 Doix vintage: “Complex and elegant in the style of La Tâche”!
