About the wine:

The Viña Bosconia Gran Reserva 2001 matches the wine's profile, a little riper (is it the Grenache?) with heady aromas and a rustic touch. 2001 saw good yields from very healthy grapes. They began harvesting the reds on October 15, and the last grapes were picked on October 29 in fine weather. The grapes ripened well, and the wine has great balance for long bottle ageing. It's 80% Tempranillo, 15% Garnacho and the rest Graciano and Mazuelo, fermented in 153-year-old oak foudres with indigenous yeasts and aged in used casks for 10 years. It has 13% alcohol, a pH of 3.4 and 6.5 grams of acidity (tartaric). As the wine remained in the glass (even overnight), it became finer and more subtle. 5000 bottles were produced. Bottled in July 2012.

About the wine:

Magnificent aromas and flavors of dried blackberries, raisins, tobacco, cigar and Spanish cedar. Full-bodied, dense and layered, with wonderful fruit and complexity for such an old wine. Drink or keep.
