“The 2001 Viña Bosconia Gran Reserva fits the wine’s profile: slightly more mature (is it the Grenache?) with heady aromas and a rustic touch.[...] As the wine sat in the glass (even overnight), it became more refined and subtle.” (Wine Advocate 2020 - Luis Gutiérrez)

About the wine:

The 2001 Viña Bosconia Gran Reserva fits the wine’s profile: slightly riper (is it the Garnacha?) with heady aromas and a rustic touch. The 2001 vintage yielded good harvests of very healthy grapes. They began harvesting the reds on October 15, and the last grapes were picked on October 29 under fine weather conditions. The grapes ripened properly, and the wine has excellent balance for long bottle aging. It is composed of 80% Tempranillo, 15% Garnacha, and the remainder Graciano and Mazuelo, which fermented in 153-year-old oak casks with native yeasts and aged in used barrels for 10 years. It has an alcohol content of 13% with a pH of 3.4 and 6.5 grams of acidity (tartaric). As the wine sat in the glass (even overnight), it became finer and more subtle. 5,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in July 2012.

About the wine:

Magnificent aromas and flavors of dried mulberries, raisins, tobacco, cigars, and Spanish cedar. Full-bodied, dense, and layered, with wonderful fruit and complexity for such an old wine. Drink now or save for later.
