Brilliant, dazzling, magnificent, and seductive, the tasters are unanimous: a sublime Barolo to open this year or to keep in the cellar for another 15 years to reveal all its secrets.

The 2019 Barolo is brilliant and vibrant in the glass, with a beautiful aromatic presence and lovely balance. Aromatic and full-bodied, with magnificent balance, the 2019 will be easy to drink and enjoy young. Crushed red fruits, blood orange, mint, cinnamon, pomegranate, cedar, and sweet floral notes on the nose. This Barolo from Altare is a wine of great class." (Vinous 2023)

About wine:

The 2019 Barolo is a wonderful new addition from Elio Altare. Silvia Altare (Elio's daughter) tells me: "The 2019 vintage was easy to work with, resulting in rich, full-bodied, and powerful wines. The 2018 vintage was lean and the 2017 was hot, but 2019 is classic.  " This wine is made from fruit from three villages in Barolo (some belonging to estates and others leased), and the vinification was simple, with short maceration times and little racking, according to Silvia. The result is vinous and fruity, with plump cherries and blackberries on a textured and full-bodied approach. The wine needs a few more years of bottle aging. 2025-2040

About wine:

Still a little closed, but already very appealing with ripe red fruit and a touch of mentholated oak. Complex and hedonistic at the same time. Very nice nose and magnificent juicy, supple red fruit with lots of crunch and bite on the finish. Lots of potential. 2023-2032

About wine:

Lovely aroma of flowers, cherries, and orange peel. Medium-bodied with firm, fine tannins. Nice length. Brilliant finish. Drink after 2026, but already very appealing.
