About the wine:
The 2019 Barolo is a wonderful new release from Elio Altare. Silvia Altare (Elio’s daughter) told me: “The 2019 vintage was easy to produce, resulting in rich, full-bodied, and powerful wines. The 2018 vintage was lean and the 2017 was hot, but the 2019 is classic. ” This wine is made from grapes sourced from three villages in Barolo (some from the estate’s own vineyards and others from leased plots), and the winemaking process was straightforward, with short maceration times and minimal racking, according to Silvia. The result is full-bodied and fruity, with plump cherries and blackberries on a textured, full-bodied profile. The wine needs a few more years of bottle aging. 2025–2040
