San Polino

Located in Montalcino, in the heart of Tuscany, San Polino is a family-owned winery founded in the 1990s by Katia Nussbaum and Luigi Fabbro. Renowned for its exclusive, artisanal Brunellos, San Polino adheres to a rigorous production philosophy aimed at authentically expressing the full richness of Montalcino’s terroir through elegant and precise wines.

The vineyard covers approximately nine hectares spread across several plots with complementary characteristics, ranging from high-altitude hillsides to soils rich in minerals, clay, and marl. This geological and climatic diversity lends the wines balance, freshness, and complexity. San Polino cultivates exclusively Sangiovese, the sole grape variety of the Brunello di Montalcino DOCG appellation, using hand-harvesting and natural fermentation to ensure a faithful expression of the fruit and the vintage.

Deeply committed to environmental sustainability, the estate operates according to the principles of organic and biodynamic farming, without herbicides or synthetic chemicals. The goal is to preserve soil vitality, biodiversity, and the vineyard’s natural balance, while minimizing interventions in the cellar as much as possible.

San Polino also stands out for its approach to regenerative viticulture, notably through a vitiforestry project that integrates trees into the vineyards to improve climate resilience and soil health. This consistent approach contributes to the uniqueness of its Brunellos, which are prized for their finesse, depth, and aging potential.
