Domaine Malenchini
The magnificent Malenchini Estate is located in the Chianti hills, just a few miles south of Florence. The vineyards, and the splendid Villa Medicea di Lilliano overlooking them, have belonged to the family of the current owner, Diletta Malenchini, for over two centuries. The villa, whose history dates back to the 11th century, belonged to Grand Duke Ferdinand II de' Medici before becoming the Royal Villa of Lapeggi.
The Malenchini family's dedication to wine dates back more than 100 years. Now at the helm of the 70-hectare estate, Diletta Malenchini carefully cultivates the 17.5 hectares planted with vines, with the utmost respect for the environment. One of the treasures of the Malenchini Estate is the quality of the clay-limestone soils of this vineyard. The climate is Mediterranean, with hot summers and cold winters, and a sharp contrast in temperature at night in summer, allowing the grapes to reach remarkable acidity before harvest.
Diletta Malenchini meticulously crafts delicious, fruity, flavorful, and fresh Chianti wines, as well as a Tuscan vino santo and a great olive oil, in the purest Tuscan tradition. The total production of the Malenchini Estate, between the four wines, does not exceed 120,000 bottles. The grape varieties grown are mainly Sangiovese and Canaiolo, but also Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot, and Pugnitello.
The wines of the Malenchini Estate are known for their rich and juicy character.
