Villa Saletta

Villa Saletta
Nestled in the heart of Tuscany, in the hilly, medieval village of Villa Saletta, the estate of the same name boasts an authentic, traditional heritage dating back centuries. Four families have worked to bring these stones through the ages: the Gambacorta family, who consolidated the land in the 14th century; then the Riccardi family, former bankers to the Medici family, who turned Villa Saletta into a wine estate throughout the 16th and 17th centuries. Then to the Castelli family, before ending up in the hands of the Hands family, who breathed new life into the estate 20 years ago.

Today, with its roots firmly planted in history, the estate combines traditional Tuscan techniques with modern technology to produce cuvées that highlight this incredible heritage, while offering Tuscan wines with a modern, contemporary style.
New plots share an exceptional terroir with the oldest vines on the estate, in an incredibly rich ecosystem: Sangiovese is the king grape variety. But at the same time, the Saletta estate is also practicing forestry: planting poplars, cypresses, acacias, oaks and hazelnuts, in line with the estate's commitment to biodiversity. Plots of olive trees are cultivated to produce their own olive oil, fields of wild flowers are tended to encourage pollination, and the clay soils abound with varieties of white and black truffles that are highly prized throughout the seasons.

It's safe to say that Villa Saletta has brilliantly reinvented the Tuscan style, producing some of the finest wines in the world in a setting of nature and history.

"A Chianti Supérieur of unctuousness and incredible gourmandise, a delicious novelty to drink or to keep!"

"Very fine expression of the bouquet, where intensity and subtlety go hand in hand. On the palate, the wine is markedly different from the 2015 and 2016 wines, with a beautiful evolution in the integration of tannins. The tannins are fine, giving the wine a perfect backbone. The finish is quite long and retains the fruity expression. 2023-2030" (Yves Beck 2021)
