Villa Saletta
Nestled in the heart of Tuscany, in the medieval, hilly village of Villa Saletta, the estate of the same name boasts an authentic and traditional heritage dating back centuries. Four families have worked to preserve these historic buildings through the ages: the Gambacorta family, who consolidated the estate during the 14th century; then the Riccardi family, former bankers to the House of Medici, who transformed Villa Saletta into a wine estate throughout the 16th and 17th centuries. Then came the Castelli family, before the estate eventually passed into the hands of the Hands family, who breathed new life into the property 20 years ago.
Today, drawing on this deep-rooted history, the estate combines traditional Tuscan techniques with modern technologies to produce wines that highlight this incredible heritage while offering Tuscan wines with a modern, contemporary style.
New plots now share an exceptional terroir with the estate’s oldest vines within an incredibly rich ecosystem: Sangiovese reigns supreme here. At the same time, the Saletta estate also practices forestry: planting poplars, cypresses, acacias, oaks, and hazelnut trees reflects the estate’s commitment to prioritizing biodiversity. Olive groves are cultivated to produce their own olive oil, fields of wildflowers are tended to encourage pollination, and the clay soils are teeming with varieties of white and black truffles that are highly prized during the seasons.
It can undoubtedly be said that Villa Saletta brilliantly reimagines the Tuscan style and produces vintages, each more wonderful than the last, in the heart of a setting rich in nature and history.
