Marche (Les Marches in French) is a wine-growing region located in central Italy, on the eastern slope of the Apennines, along the Adriatic coast south of Emilia-Romagna and north of Abruzzo. The main wine-producing areas of Marche are located inland, in regions sheltered by the mountains.

The climate of Marche, strongly influenced by the proximity of the warm Adriatic Sea, is mild and perfectly suited to viticulture. The grape varieties primarily used for Marche wines are Verdicchio for white wines and Sangiovese and Montepulciano d'Abruzzo for red wines. Other secondary varieties are sometimes used, such as Bianchello, Trebbiano, and Vernaccia di Serrapetrona.

The Marche region boasts 11 DOC (Denominazione di Origine Controllata) designations. Among these, the most important are the two Verdicchio appellations: Verdicchio di Jesi and Verdicchio di Matelica. For red wines, the Rosso Conero and Rosso Piceno appellations are particularly noteworthy. The region has gained a growing reputation for the quality of its wines in recent years, following the modernization of both vineyard management and winemaking. The wines offered by Domaine Boccadigabbia are a compelling demonstration of this.
