" Solaia 2019 is fabulous. Deep and deliciously layered, this 2019 is so expressive right from the start. Succulent notes of black cherries, plums, licorice, incense, pipe tobacco, chocolate, and toasted herbs take shape. Here too, the aromas are seductive. Cabernet Franc is a little more present in the blend, and it works very well here. Solaia is often a grandiloquent and intense wine. This 2019 is incredibly refined. Readers will need to be patient. Solaia 2019 is the kind of wine I would like to spend an entire evening with. About wine:
Wonderful aromas of raspberry and black cherry on the nose. Ripe, sweet, and expressive, the aromas burst from the glass. Fleshy, delicate, and full-bodied, this wine offers a load of ripe, opulent tannins and powerful fruit, supported by lively acidity that keeps everything vibrant. This is a very serious, dark and confident wine. It has many elements at the moment - ample, generous, heavy and elegant with hints of red flowers, white pepper spices, ground coffee, herbs and chocolate. A stallion waiting for its moment to shine. 2025 - 2045

About wine:
Solaia 2019 is one of the great successes of Tuscany's leading winery, Marchesi Antinori. The current blend is 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Sangiovese, and 10% Cabernet Franc (which has increased insidiously in recent years, mainly due to climate change). The soils of the Solaia vineyard are rich in Galestro rock, which pairs particularly well with Cabernet Franc. General Manager Renzo Cotarella tells me that a vintage like 2019 is proof that the final character of a wine comes from its surrounding territory, not the blend. This is a generous and extremely expressive edition with lots of black fruit, spices, and sweet tobacco. The tannins are beautifully velvety and supple. This is a magnificent wine that collectors will love.

About wine:
It presents a complex array of blackberries, black cherries, cocoa, dried herbs, slate, tobacco, olives, and toasted bark. A few dried roses and iodine. Medium-bodied to full-bodied, with firm but refined tannins. Powerful and discreet at the same time. Long. Try it in 2025.
