About the wine:
Antinori’s 2021 Solaia is another wine that reflects all the potential I sensed when I tasted it a few months ago. More than anything else, the 2021 is a fine example of the style Antinori has been favoring lately—an approach that prioritizes finesse over opulence. Aromas of black plum, mocha, licorice, chocolate, spices, lavender, and menthol unfold naturally in the glass. The oak and tannins are perfectly balanced. The 2021 spent 18 months in barrels—three months in once-used barrels during malolactic fermentation, followed by 15 months in 100% new barrels for the remainder of its aging. 2027–2051
