About the wine:

Of course, there’s that distinctive aromatic base of vin jaune, but the nose also reveals notes of fruit—plum in particular—toasted aromas, and even hints of pastry. Full-bodied, powerful, and round on the palate, it has a lovely finish.

About the wine:

Less explosive but just as intense, Château-Chalon develops a captivating smoky and minty flavor that lingers in a memorable finish. Like Arbois, it embodies the distinctive character of its region, proving once again that aging “sous voile” allows these “jaunes” wines to fully express themselves.

About the estate:

This historic estate in Passenans experienced a rebirth when Emmanuel Grand and his partner Nathalie—the daughter of Arbois winemakers—took it over in 2015, significantly reducing the vineyard’s size and deciding to convert it to organic farming. The results were not long in coming, and the lineup—which encompasses all Jura specialties—continues to improve each year. “I like to master things in order to understand them,” says the meticulous Emmanuel Grand: his philosophy is perfectly reflected in wines that are crisp, vibrant, delicious, and full of character. The future belongs to them.
