“All the elegance and finesse of Château-Chalon”
The 2017 Château-Chalon En Beaumont boasts a beautiful golden-yellow color, with aromas of nuts, dried fruit, and peat. Elegant on the palate, it is delicate with a peaty backbone. Ideal with Bresse chicken and morels, it also pairs perfectly with a fine Comté cheese...

Wine noted (guide 2026) 1*Star (Very successful wine)
About the wine:
Of course, there is that distinctive aromatic base of vin jaune, but the nose also reveals notes of fruit—plum in particular—toasted aromas, and even hints of pastry. Full-bodied, powerful, and round on the palate, it has a lovely finish.

Wine rated (2026 guide) 95/100
Rated Estate (2024 Guide) Selected (Please note that this guide is a ranking, and as such, all the estates listed here—even those without a star—represent, in our view, the pinnacle of French winemaking.)
About the wine:
Less explosive but just as intense, Château-Chalon develops a captivating smoky and minty flavor that lingers on the palate. Like Arbois, it embodies the distinctive character of its terroir, proving once again that aging yellow wines under a veil allows their full expression to shine through.
About the estate:
This historic estate in Passenans was given a new lease on life when Emmanuel Grand and his partner Nathalie—the daughter of winemakers from Arbois—took it over in 2015, significantly reducing the vineyard’s size and deciding to convert it to organic farming. The results were quick to follow, and the range—which encompasses all the specialties of the Jura—continues to improve each year. “I like to master things in order to understand them,” asserts the meticulous Emmanuel Grand: his philosophy is perfectly reflected in wines that are crisp, vibrant, delicious, and full of character. The future belongs to them.
