“A well-structured Château-Chalon that is already approachable in its youth, with a full-bodied, rich character; less lively than the 2002 but with the same phenomenal length. It can be enjoyed young but will age beautifully. ” (Le Grand Guide des Vins de France 2011 - Bettane & Desseauve)

Rated estate (2022 guide) 3*Stars (These represent the pinnacle of French winemaking. The finest terroirs cultivated by the greatest winemakers. Tasting their wine is always a magical experience)

About the estate:

A leading figure in the Jura wine region, Jean Macle passed away this winter. Tasting a Château-Chalon from the estate that bears his name is now, more than ever, a moment of particular intensity. A true “yellow” wine—straightforward, crisp, harmonious, and easy to drink—whose complexity stems not only from aging under a yeast veil. Now in the hands of Laurent Macle, this estate navigates the vintages with such consistency and such a distinct identity that it commands universal respect. Founded in 1850, it owns some of the steepest terroirs in the appellation, with slopes reaching up to 50%. The decision to plant vines on land where, at one time, no one dared to venture underscores the determination and passion of this winemaking family, which has become inseparable from the Château-Chalon vineyard.
