About the estate:

Sophie and Thibaud Bardi de Fourtou took over this historic estate in Faugères in 2017. The wines we tasted for this edition are the last examples of the transition between Jean-Michel Alquier and the new owners. The couple's goal? To perpetuate the style of the estate, whose vineyard is dominated by old Syrah vines from massal selections (among the first planted in Languedoc in the 1960s by Jean-Michel Alquier's father, Gilbert), complemented by Mourvèdre and Grenache. We remain attentive to this new turning point.

About wine:

A well-structured, textured, and flavorful red wine with aromas of dark plums, game, grilled meat, and warm spices. Notes of undergrowth. The wine is medium-bodied to full-bodied with fine tannins. Textured and concentrated, with a savory finish. Ready to drink now.

About wine:

The Faugères Les Bastides D'Alquier 2021 is another solid wine. Spicy and peppery garrigue, dried flowers, and leather notes define this medium-bodied Provençal wine. It opens up nicely with time in the glass, its tannins are present, its balance is remarkable, and it is one of those wines that improves with each sip.
