About the domain :

Sophie and Thibaud Bardi de Fourtou took over this historic Faugères estate in 2017. The wines we tasted for this edition are the latest witnesses to the transition from Jean-Michel Alquier to the new owners. The couple's aim? To perpetuate the style of the house, whose vineyards are dominated by old syrahs from massal selections (among the first planted in Languedoc in the 1960s by Jean-Michel Alquier's father, Gilbert), complemented by mourvèdre and grenache. We're keeping a close eye on this new development.

About the wine:

A well-composed, textured and flavorful red with aromas of dark plums, game, grilled meat and warm spices. Hints of undergrowth. Medium- to full-bodied with fine tannins. Texture and concentration, with a savory finish. Drink now.

Wine rated (2024 guide) 90/100

About the wine:

Faugères Les Bastides D'Alquier 2021 is another solid wine. Spicy, peppery garrigue, dried flowers and leather notes define this medium-bodied Provencal wine. It opens up nicely with time in the glass, its tannins are present, its balance is remarkable and it's one of those wines that gets better with every sip.
