Mont Baudile

The Hérault undoubtedly offers the greatest diversity of wines with protected geographical indication (PGI), covering nearly two-thirds of the production area. Within this department, there are also smaller areas that have been granted specific PGIs by decree. This is the case for Mont Baudile.The Mont Baudile PGI is therefore subject to the same specifications as the Hérault PGI, but it covers a geographical area limited to a dozen municipalities at the foot of Mont Saint-Baudille.

The Hérault department forms a vast amphitheater facing the Mediterranean Sea. Protected by Mont Saint-Baudille, the Mont Baudile PGI enjoys a Mediterranean climate that is particularly conducive to vine growing. It is characterized by hot, dry summers and mild winters, with two rainy periods in autumn and spring.

The wines offered under the Mont Baudile PGI are produced from traditional Mediterranean grape varieties such as Carignan, Syrah, Cinsault, and Grenache for reds, but also with other varieties, notably Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. The white wines of the Mont Baudile PGI include Grenache blanc, Maccabeu, and Terret, as well as Chardonnay, Sauvignon, and Viognier. The Mont Baudile PGI offers some wonderful wines to discover, such as those from Domaine d'Aupilhac.
