Val de Montferrand
The Val de Montferrand PGI designation covers the departments of Hérault and Gard in the Languedoc-Roussillon region. The production area encompasses 46 municipalities in the Hérault department and 3 municipalities in the Gard. The Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) was granted to theVal de Montferrand PGI terroir by a decree dated December 3, 2001.

Wines protected by the Val de Montferrand PGI designation are primarily made from the Chardonnay, Viognier, Muscat à petits grains, and Sauvignon grape varieties for white wines, and Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, Merlot, and Pinot Noir for red and rosé wines. These grape varieties must account for at least 80% of the blend and may be supplemented by secondary varieties. Within the IGP Val de Montferrand appellation, the wines of Domaine de l'Hortus are particularly noteworthy.
