"A legendary vintage from Mas Jullien with exceptional balance, where complexity and depth bring a superb dimension."

The "Autour de Jonquières" cuvée comes from around ten plots surrounding the village. The plots were chosen for their complementary characteristics. Olivier Jullien worked toward this goal, aiming to create a cuvée that synthesizes all these plots and brings out their best qualities. The wine gains in complexity and depth. Wine rating (2025 guide) 97/100 (2021 vintage)

Rated estate (2019 guide) 4 stars (Producers of very high quality, those who are the pride of French vineyards)

About the estate:

Based in Jonquières, west of Montpellier, Olivier Jullien has used his intuition and intelligence to raise the quality of the region's wines to the highest level, inspiring a whole generation of young winemakers to follow in his footsteps. He settled here in 1985 and his estate now covers 18 hectares of land with a wide variety of soils (clay-limestone, silica, sandstone), which are now cultivated without certification (the estate was certified in the past) using organic farming methods that are not officially recognized in order to avoid dogma. Autour-de-Jonquières corresponds to the original terroir of Mas Jullien on plots consisting mainly of limestone scree. Carlan comes from schist at an altitude of 200 to 400 meters, and a new cuvée, Lous-Rougeos, comes from high-altitude terroirs that were almost abandoned, at the foot of the Larzac plateau collapse zone. All the reds are of the highest quality in the Languedoc and fully express its typical characteristics, with notes of sage, garrigue, and thyme complemented by a constant freshness. They evolve slowly and age beautifully. Great whites and rosés too.

Wine rating (2025 guide) 93/100 (2021 vintage)

Rated estate (2021 guide) 3 stars (These represent the excellence of French vineyards. The best terroirs cultivated by the greatest winemakers. Tasting their wine is always a magical moment.)

About the estate:

More than any other winemaker in Languedoc, Olivier Jullien commands the admiration and respect of his peers. From his terraces in Larzac, he is one of the leading figures in the revival of rigorous viticulture, seeking combinations and nuances between the variety of soils and the use of indigenous grape varieties. The sincerity of this visionary, who shuns competition, is reflected in his deep, digestible and generous wines, which are southern in character due to the intensity and diversity of their flavors, rather than simply the ripeness of the grapes and their illusory richness in alcohol. Fresh and full-bodied reds, meticulously aged, capable of shining after more than fifteen years of aging, as well as a magnificent white that is beyond fashion, make this estate a benchmark.
