Eric Morgat
Eric Morgat has been based in Savennières for about twenty years now. Coming from a family of winemakers in Anjou for more than two centuries—notably at Château du Breuil in Beaulieu-sur-Layon until 2006— Eric Morgat is now one of the region’s most iconic figures.
All ofEric Morgat’s vineyard plots have been selected from among the finest terroirs. These terroirs can sometimes be difficult to cultivate, but as Eric Morgat likes to say, “they always hold great promise.” The six hectares of vineyards are planted exclusively with Chenin and cultivated using certified organic methods. Winemaking is done in the traditional, very natural way, with the wines aged for 22 months in 400-liter barrels.
A perfectionist and meticulous winemaker, Eric Morgat is one of the leading figures in Savennières. He brings out an unexpected side of Chenin. Eric Morgat’s wines are marked by remarkable authenticity and precision.
