"Grown on warm gravel and pebble soils in the village of Saint-Aubin de Luigné, La Fresnaye 2011 reveals an inky color and a noble, intense, delicate bouquet with spicy fruit, earthy nuances, gamey accents, coffee, and graphite. Aged in barrels for two years, it is a fresh, pure, powerful red, firmly structured yet silky, elegant and dynamic, with great intensity of ripe black fruit closely linked to tobacco aromas. La Fresnaye is an excellent, elegant wine with very good aging potential." (Wine Advocate - Robert Parker)

Bettane & Desseauve
Wine rated 15.5/20 (Very good wine)
Rated estate (2017 guide) 2 stars (A serious and recommendable production, but a little more consistent and uniform than the previous one)
About wine:
Pure fruitiness, slender on the palate, this wine has a lot to say.
About the estate:
Created in 2008 by Isabelle and Jo Pithon, in partnership with Joseph and Wendy Paillé (who have since moved to Roussillon, but been replaced by Jules and Tania—are you following?), this young estate has made a sensational debut among the Loire Valley's leading addresses. The 13 hectares of vineyards (including 11 hectares of Chenin), cultivated organically and vinified by Jo Pithon himself, are backed by a handsome wine trading structure, set up with partner winegrowers who work mainly organically. Jo Pithon is thus establishing himself as one of the great names in white Anjou.

Wine rated (2014 guide) 15/20 (Good wine)
Rated estate (2017 guide) Selected (Please note that this guide is a ranking and, as such, all the estates listed in it, even those without stars, represent, in our opinion, the excellence of French production.)
About wine:
The 2011 reds are very successful. La Fresnaye has more depth and density.
About the estate:
After selling their vineyard to Philippe Fournier (at Domaine FL), Jo and Isabelle Pithon created this wine merchant business in 2008 with Joseph Paillé, Isabelle's son, and Wendy, Joseph's wife, a South African sommelier. They have 7 hectares of their own organic vineyards, where they vinify and age Chenin and Cabernet Franc grapes from different terroirs in the Loire Valley. In this successful Loire Valley blend of light, easy-drinking wines and a few great terroir-driven vintages, the whites are gaining in popularity, particularly the exceptional Coteaux des Treilles.
