About the wine:
The 2018 Bourgueil Peu Muleau comes from the upper part of the hillside and offers a beautiful, fresh, and aromatic bouquet—very intense—with stony terroir notes intertwined with bright, transparent, yet ripe and concentrated aromas of red and black fruits, cherry, and pepper. Round and full-bodied on the palate, with soft, refined tannins, this is a supple, velvety, warm, and full-bodied Cabernet Franc with a long, intense finish. Truly excellent.

About the estate:
Emmanuel Caslot and his sister Laurie carry on the work of thirteen generations with love and dedication at this historic estate in Bourgueil. Here, Cabernet Franc is vinified with great care to subtly express the terroirs of sand, clay, and limestone found on the lower, middle, and upper slopes. Each label is thoughtfully adorned with a color that reflects the wine’s intensity and complexity: from bright red for the Peu Muleau to deep purple for the Grand-Mont. These iconic Bourgueil wines highlight the refined, cool austerity of Cabernet Franc while embodying a magnificent, smooth texture. Let’s commend the bottle aging that takes place in the tuffeau cellars before the wines are released to the market.

Warm and cheerful, this Cabernet Franc displays wonderful vitality and a supple, indulgent body dominated by fresh red fruit, along with soft, silky tannins. The finish is fresh and fragrant. At its peak, this lovely, approachable wine paired well with oven-roasted pork served with chanterelle mushrooms.
