Coteaux du Giennois

The origins of this vineyard can be traced to the many abbeys in the region. The occupation of the Château de Gien by the Count of Gien and the future King Charles VII contributed significantly to the development of the vineyards. Coteaux du Giennois is a wine produced from Gien to Cosne-Cours-sur-Loire. This wine region received its AOP designation relatively late, in 1998. To qualify for the appellation, white wines must be made from Sauvignon Blanc. Red and rosé wines are produced from a blend of Gamay and Pinot Noir.
