Crémant de Loire

The Crémant de Loire AOC was recognized on October 17, 1975, and spans three wine-growing regions: Touraine, Anjou, and Saumur. The appellation’s vast size offers a variety of climatic nuances and a rich diversity of soils. Chenin and Chardonnay are the two star grape varieties of this appellation, but red grapes (Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Pineau d’Aunis, etc.) are also used, either as single-varietal wines or in blends. Crémant de Loire is subject to strict specifications, including hand-harvesting in perforated crates, aging for at least 12 months on racks, and limited pressing. Drawing on the traditional expertise of winemakers and wine merchants, as well as favorable production conditions, Crémant de Loire has gradually grown in prominence.
