Bettane & Desseauve

Bettane & Desseauve

Domaine rated 1*Star (A serious, recommendable production, in line with what one has the right to expect from its appellation(s))

About the domain :

Victor and Vincent Lebreton are faithful interpreters of Coteaux-de-l'Aubance. The brothers took over the family estate in 1986 and now cultivate 60 hectares of vines on different plots and types of schist. The result is parcel-based cuvées with subtle tones, reflecting the resonance of blue schists (le-tertereaux), greys (clos-des-huttières) or purples (le-clos-prieur). A friendly address, with low prices. The range is at its best on the Aubance, as is only logical. The reds are simple and tasty, for immediate pleasure.

Domaine noté (guide 2025) Award-winning wines (The wines of this producer are regularly awarded by the guide)

About the domain :

This estate on the outskirts of Angers is a benchmark in the region, particularly in terms of "Angevin sweets", with superb coteaux-de-l'aubance on the menu. Vincent Lebreton, who has been at the helm since 1995, runs the estate created by his grandfather, Victor, and developed by his father, also Victor, and manages 75 hectares of slate schist terroir in a highly sustainable manner. The sixth generation now supports him.

About the wine:

On the nose, very noble oak aromas set the tone. On the palate, woody and vanilla flavors blend beautifully with hazelnut and toasted almond, while a few tart red berries enliven the taste buds. Even floral aromas join the party, delighting us with hints of peony that perfume the whole. The wine's lovely acidity and freshness suggest that it still has some life left in it and that it might be interesting to keep it a little longer to explore new facets.
