90/100
Bettane & Desseauve
"A wonderful exploration of the limestone terroir of Menetou-Salon"
Morogues Blanc, one of the wines that embodies the essence of Domaine de la Tour Saint Martin. The typical Sauvignon notes are evident on the initial nose, along with hints of the sea. The palate is generous, with lovely bitter notes emerging from a full-bodied, rich structure. It has a distinct, tangy, and refreshing character.

Wine rated (2025 guide) 90/100
Rated estate (2027 guide): 3*Stars (High-quality production that serves as a benchmark in its sector)
About the estate:
On his 17-hectare vineyard, Bertrand Minchin—a cheerful and engaging winemaker—continues to make progress. His estate in Menetou-Salon is now certified organic, and the one in Valencay is in the process of conversion. With each vintage, he refines the style of his reds, which are now among the best in the region, and his whites—often well-structured—have also gained in precision. The lineup offers superb value for the price.

About the estate:
A trusted name in the Menetou-Salon appellation with his Dom. la Tour Saint-Martin, Bertrand Minchin—equally at home with reds and whites—has been at the helm since 1987 of 17 hectares of vineyards on the hills above Morogues, which are in the process of converting to organic farming. In 2004, he expanded into the Valençay appellation with the 15 hectares of Claux Delorme in Selles-sur-Cher, where he quickly established himself as a leading producer.

Rated Estate (2027 Guide) Selected (Please note that this guide is a ranking, and as such, all the estates listed here—even those without a star—represent, in our view, the pinnacle of French winemaking.)
About the estate:
Bertrand Minchin is based in Morogues, a Menetou-Salon cru, with the La Tour Saint Martin estate, and also in Valençay (Claux Delorme)—two estates that together form Domaines Minchin. The Valençay wines are lively and straightforward; the Menetou-Salon cuvées are vinified with precision. The Sauvignons reflect the character of their terroir thanks to meticulous craftsmanship, as do the skillfully crafted reds. Since 2022, the estate has been certified “ Organic.”

This reliable choice from Menetou-Salon finds, with this generous 2022 vintage, a lovely fullness and a certain tension on a lively, mineral foundation that lingers on the finish with subtle bitter notes. I would have appreciated a bit more freshness to balance the predominant aromatic expression. Instead of shellfish, I preferred to pair this Morogues with a springtime barbecue of lovely line-caught sea bass served with fennel braised in olive oil. Rating = 3.9.

A medium-deep straw-yellow color. On the nose: ripe apple, white peach, honey, candied lemon, beeswax, and those characteristic notes of boxwood and freshly mown grass. Complex, layered, and very inviting aromas. On the palate, an expected, plump attack of apple, mango, fennel, and asparagus. Also some rosewater. Medium acidity, plenty of body, and very coating (glycerin). A wealth of flavor, character, substance, and conviction. A long, coating finish with a hint of asparagus bitterness at the end. Score: 17/20
