Frédéric Mabileau
The Frédéric Mabileau estate has 27 hectares of vineyards in production. Aware of the imperatives of sustainable agriculture, he made the decision in 2007 to convert his entire vineyard to organic farming, which has now been awarded ECOCERT certification. In August 2020, Frédéric Mabileau died suddenly in a microlight accident.

The Frédéric Mabileau estate is located on a terroir composed mainly of sand and gravel. A large proportion of the vines, aged between 35 and 50 years old, benefit from very good rooting to draw on the heart of the soil. The gently sloping hillsides produce more opulent and structured wines. The neighboring Bourgueil offers more clayey soils, producing wines that are more fleshy.

Wishing to respect the integrity of the grapes from the vine to the vat, Domaine Frédéric Mabileau harvests the entire vineyard by hand and sorts the grapes on two successive sorting tables (before and after the destemmer). All these factors result in more fleshy grapes, which ripen better by rebalancing the acidity, producing supple, round, and concentrated wines. One of the must-visit addresses in Saint-Nicolas de Bourgueil!
