Bettane & Desseauve

Rated estate (2026 guide): 2*Stars (A solid, recommendable production, though slightly more consistent and uniform than the previous one)

About the estate:

Located in Chavignol, this 33-hectare family-run estate was revived by Matthieu Delaporte. The wines produced—both white and red—faithfully reflect their original terroirs. The estate’s wines are gaining in quality, and organic certification was obtained with the 2023 vintage.

Rated estate (2026 guide) 1*Star (Rising stars or high-quality winemakers producing wines of a good standard—you won’t be disappointed when you taste the wines from these estates)

About the estate:

In 2010, Matthieu Delaporte’s arrival marked a shift for this historic Chavignol estate toward soil management, the elimination of herbicides, lower yields, and barrel-aged winemaking. From the outset, the winemaker displayed great ambition and took on the challenge of restructuring a 33-hectare vineyard. This was a major undertaking aimed at producing more refined wines, which have been certified organic since 2023. The lineup combines blended wines (Chavignol and Silex) and single-vineyard wines (the legendary south-facing slope of Monts Damnés, as well as Le Cul de Beaujeu, famous elsewhere for its whites but planted here with Pinot Noir). The whites are meticulous, refined, and well-balanced; the reds are equally well-crafted.
