Le P'tit Domaine - Les Bonneveaux 2010

1*Étoile

Hachette

“Made from vines that are half a century old, this cuvée has been aged in wood like all the estate’s wines; yet its eighteen-month stay in barrels has not overwhelmed the wine. The color is more reminiscent of cherries than blackcurrants. On the nose, there are abundant red and black fruits, underscored by hints of vanilla and roasted notes. The palate is in harmony. Despite its pronounced tannic structure, this balanced and long-finishing wine leaves an impression of suppleness and ease. ‘It would fit right in at a wine bar,’ writes one juror.” (Le Guide Hachette des Vins)

Wine noted (guide 2013) 1*Star (Very successful wine)

Rated estate (2013 guide) Award-winning wines (This producer’s wines are regularly recognized by the guide)

About the wine:

It is indeed a small estate: 2.48 hectares to date. Richard Desouche, the winemaker at Château de Chaintres, wanted to have his own vineyard, so in 2006 he acquired the plots he now cultivates organically (the conversion began in 2010). Made from vines half a century old, this cuvée has been aged in wood like all the estate’s wines: yet its eighteen-month stay in barrels has not overwhelmed the wine. The color is more reminiscent of cherry than blackcurrant. On the nose, there are abundant red and black fruits underscored by hints of vanilla and roasted notes. The palate is in harmony. Despite its pronounced tannic structure, this balanced and long-finishing wine leaves an impression of suppleness and ease. “It would fit right in at a wine bar,” writes one juror.
